BROADFORD First XI has a strong lead over Nagambie after day one of round five in the Seymour District Cricket Association competition on Saturday.
The Red and Black’s won the toss and despite a shaky start that saw them at 4/39, a middle order stand from James Ingham 112, Nathan Blackwell 56 and Liam Collier 36 steered the side to a commanding 9/293 cc after 80 overs.
A 100-run partnership between Collier and Ingham was the highlight of the innings.
Brayden Biggs and Michael Sloan had the best figures with 3/46 and 3/62 respectively.
Kilmore’s bowlers dealt with Tallarook’s batting lineup, restricting them to 137 in their first innings.
Tallarook won the toss, but could only manage 137 off 52.2 overs. Kilmore’s Travis Blackwell 3/18, Luke Brennan 3/32 and Kade Shiel 3/37 did the damage.
In reply the Blues were struggling at 5/62 at the close of play.
Tallarook’s Leigh Irving 2/6 and Sam Watts 2/12 were proving a handful.
Alexandra won the toss and made 193, with Jarrod Pink dominating with 7/34. In reply, Seymour are 3/34.
Eastern Hill made a strong 199 target for Avenel to chase in their first innings.

B-grade
Broadford won the toss and despite some early losses, stood strong against Pyalong and were 9/150 cc after 45 overs. Luke Zerella top scored with 43.
Daniel Zoch 3/15 and Kyle Ryan 3/19 had the best figures for the home-side.
In reply, Pyalong could only manage 110 against the strength of Broadford’s bowlers.
Mark Moran 3/17, Adem Hanci 2/13, Nathan Ford 2/14 and Jake Martin 2/44 all contributed.
Broadford have the bye next Saturday.
Kilmore won the toss and sent Nagambie in. The home-side crumbled for 60 off 22.5 overs. Carl Brennan and Brandon O’Donnell dominated with 5/11 and 2/8 respectively.
In reply, Kilmore cruised to 4/67 off 18 overs to take the win.
Kilmore take on Royals this Saturday.
C-grade
Broadford enjoyed a 48 run win over Yea Tigers with Peter Ingham the star of the show in an all round effort.
Broadford won the toss and took command early finishing with 8/279cc off 40 overs. Ingham top scored with an unbeaten 114 and then backed it up with the ball to take 2/21 off five overs.
Yea were admirable in the chase, falling short at 231. Damien Bannan and Alan Pell top scored with 64 and 47 respectively.
Broadford’s Brenton Smith also put ina n all round performance with an unbeaten 44 runs and figures of 3/54.
Kilmore defeated Pyalong in a close match at Assumption College.
Kilmore batted first making 5/189 cc with Brett Buttler top scoring with 52. Travis Woods took 2/31 .
In reply Pyalong fell short with 6/180cc, with Buttler backing up his efforts, taking 3/5.
Under 14s
Puckapunyal 9/98 cc (N. Frankel 44 no, C. Berry 4/7) defeated Broadford 89 (K. Flaskett 3/9)
