THE major 'Buy Local' campaign across Mitchell Shire is about to be launched, with 10,000 bright yellow re-usable shopping bags to be distributed to those who buy locally.
Spring began this week, and the campaign provides for shoppers who support local businesses to 'paint the towns of Mitchell Shire yellow'.
The 'Buy Local' campaign is funded and supported by Mitchell Shire Council and Regional Development Victoria.
"Local businesses have supported Mitchell shire's communities, especially during and since the bushfires, Residents need only shop locally to support them in return," stated council's busienss development officer, Kathy Preston.
"The objective is to turn Mitchell Shire 'yellow' by encouraging our local communities to shop within our shire rather than travelling elsewhere."
The campaign is all embracing, including small towns with only one store right through to the shire's largest retail centre, Seymour.
