HIDDEN Valley Golf and Country Club was recognised for its considerable monetary contribution to the Mitchell Community Health Service 
(MCHS) bushfire fund last week.
The club donated $40,000 to MCHS that was raised during a bushfire relief fundraiser held in March, which included golf, a sit down dinner and an auction of donated goods.An additional $10,000 raised on the evening was donated to the Wallan CFA which was used to purchase new equipment including spotlights.
Andrew Wilson from Wilson Everard helped to co-ordinate the fundraising event and was also responsible for contacting several organisations that helped make the night a success.
Football clubs donated autographed jumpers, BOSCH donated drills, Central Ford donated a car and several golf club members contributed memorabilia and other items.
Television and radio celebrity John Blackman was MC for the evening and David Pemberton assisted with the auction.
Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club’s General Manager Di Fisher also assisted with the general running of the evening and Hidden Valley Restaurant’s Kylie and Jonathan Pole provided meals for guests.
The funds donated to the MCHS bushfire relief fund will be used to assist those in the Mitchell and Murrindindi areas who were affected by the February 7 Black Saturday bushfires.
MCHS has extended the fund to next year.
Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club’s Kaye Fitzpatrick said many members of the club were directly affected by the bushfires and the club wanted to keep the funds within the community to assist locals.
"It touched us all here, we all knew someone who had been directly affected," she said.
MCHS CEO Chris McDonnell and MCHS Director of Corporal Services Jenny Buckingham presented Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club’s Julie Metaxotos and Kaye Fitzpatrick with a plaque to recognise their efforts.
"It makes a huge difference in returning their lives to normal … this is absolutely enormous and something the club can hold on to," Mr McDonnell said.
