Grants for groups

E-mail Print PDF

THIS year’s allocation of the Annual Community Grants has seen a number of community groups receive funding for local projects.
There were 78 applications received and 57 projects were funded, totalling $75,214.49.
Allocations were made in three categories, Community Buildings, Community Development, and Arts. Grants are allocated using a strict criteria system where points are allocated.
Applications were analysed by officers using the funding and weighting sheet adopted by Council last year. The analysis of the applications was then submitted to a council-appointed sub-committee that included Mayor Cr Bill Melbourne, Cr Stewart and Cr Marstaellar.
Applications were funded in priority from the highest score down until the funding ran out.
Twenty-seven Community Building grants were funded totalling $24,157.60, 17 Community Development Grants totalling $31,599 and 12 Arts Grants totalling 23,457.89.
$33,000 in funding was allocated as part of the 2009-2010 annual tourism events grant program to eight events.
The maximum funding allocation was $7000 and the minimum was $1000.
