Kilmore man tries his hand

KILMORE resident Steven Matson will make his television debut tonight on the new series Australian Poker Hero.
The show will follow Australian poker aficionados who have swapped their weekly pub poker game for a chance to become Australian Poker Heroes.In his hands: Kilmore man Steven Matson will be vying for a spot on the most prestigious poker tournament in Australia, as well a $25,000 cash prize.
Airing at 11.30pm on WIN TV and NBN television networks each Tuesday night, poker players have the opportunity to share in a weekly $25,000 prize pool, which includes $10,000 to the charity of their choice.
Steven nominated the Royal Children’s Hospital as his charity.
They will also win a direct satellite into the 2010 Aussie Millions, the richest and most prestigious poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere.
Each week players compete in qualifier games, which also feature a celebrity guest.
Six players from across the country feature in each episode and at the end of the episode one player walks away with the top prize.
The program will follow each of the qualifiers from their home towns to Crown Casino in Melbourne where they play off against each other, and the celebrities, under the watchful eyes of the expert commentary team.
The program will be presented by Paul Khoury, Mark Vos and Olivia Stratton.
The series premiered on October 13 and Steve will compete in the third of the 10-part series tonight (Tuesday October 27) at 11.30pm.
