TWO local stars on the rise have landed supporting roles in the Melbourne feature film Johnny Swade.

Fresh from a shoot at the Melbourne Museum, Jackson Ezard, of Broadford, and Dave Palmer, of Seymour, are eager to see the movie make a dent in small-budget Aussie film.

In order to save his home, Johnny Swade and his friends, Tim, Abby, Kelly and Ariel, are on an adventure to expose the secret dealings of a tyrant, Henry Wilmont.
Filmed and set in Melbourne, the feature film is Tiny Ripple Productions’ director Van Thuy Tran’s first major project and showcases some of Mitchell Shire’s talent.
Jackson is trying on the role of wealthy bully Nathan Dunne.
“We are well into production now and it has been a fantastic opportunity to work with such a talented group of people,” Jackson said.
“The cast and crew are great and everyone seems to be learning from each other and I couldn’t ask for a better start to my acting career.”
Fellow actor Dave is injecting some humour into the character Boof, one of Henry Wilmont’s “goofball” henchmen.
With fellow henchman Rankin, he works to stop the Johnny and his friends from exposing the truth about Wilmont’s secrets.
Dave said he has so far enjoyed the experience.
“The cast and crew have been very supportive, patient and forgiving,” he said.
“There is a large cast and it’s a very ambitious project. There are only about 20 days allotted to complete shooting.”

Dave is the former president of the Theatrical Amateur Players Seymour and during his nine years with TAPS he has held many roles and even tried his hand at directing.
He has also starred in numerous television advertisements and acted in popular Australian television programs Blue Heelers and Neighbours.
Dave and Jackson both intend furthering their acting careers after the film.
After shooting this project Jackson is heading to Los Angeles to undertake an intensive four-week acting course in Hollywood.
He then plans to return to Melbourne and continue his studies at Screen Actors, in Ascot Vale, and will start training with acclaimed Melbourne actor Andy McPhee.
McPhee’s credits include roles in Sons of Anarchy (Keith McGee), Wolf Creek (Bazza) and Underbelly (Gus Brown).
He is also father of Kodi Smit-Mcphee, who is best known for his performance in the 2007 film Romulus, My Father, acting alongside Eric Bana.
“It is going to unbelievable being coached by such an experienced actor and also a great bloke,” Jackson said.
“Hopefully my next big break isn’t too far around the corner.”

Johnny Swade is set for release in Australia in 2012.
