MITCHELL Shire Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Bill Braithwaite, handed in his resignation on Friday, effective immediately.
Mayor Cr Bill Melbourne said that shortly after returning from four weeks' long service leave Mr Braithwaite indicated he wanted to make a career change outside of the Mitchell Shire.
Mr Braithwaite will be taking the opportunity to pursue new challenges, and Council thanks him for his contribution to the Shire since early 2007.
"I have enjoyed my time at Mitchell, but now is the time to move on to new opportunities. I wish to pay tribute to all the employees of Mitchell Shire Council who have done a great job, particularly in the recovery effort from Black Saturday. I wish them and the Council every success for the future," Mr Braithwaite said.
Mayor Cr Melbourne said Council and Mr Braithwaite have "parted ways cleanly."
"We wish him the best and Peter Halton (acting CEO) has the full support of Council in the interim."
