“I want to deliver on my (election) promises and I’m keen to represent the community,” said Mr Mitchell.
He adds that after four years of hard work and campaigning effort to make it to the top, finally getting the top job has been no anticlimax.
“I love it, I’m absolutely passionate about it,” he said.
“There’s a lot to do, but I get real satisfaction out of seeing things done, be they big or small.”
There are plenty of things to be done, big and small, across the electorate Mitchell now covers, with the man himself highlighting health, education and regional development as important issues he expects to tackle this year.
More specifically he is awaiting the opening of the Wallan Super Clinic, something he assured voters he would provide in the lead-up to his 2010 election.
“It’s going to happen, the three and a half million is ready to go,” said Mitchell.
“I think it’s going to be sensational.”
Rob Mitchell said that he anticipates meeting with Council to finalise plans for the clinic in February.
“I want to get it sorted quickly, I’m keen to see it done,” he said.
He also speculates that providing a 24-hour ambulance service is another issue that will be looking to approach this year.
Mitchell will also be dedicating himself to getting the Romsey sports precinct up and running with the $3.7 million set aside for the project.

Mitchell anticipates that the treatment and management of the basin will be a hot button issue but is positive a solution will be found.
“It’s not about picking winners and losers, its about trying to get the best results for everyone and I think a vast majority of people recognise that.”
