CHRIS Nolan has been appointed senior coach of the Kilmore Football Club, following its annual general meeting earlier this month.
Nolan is one of many injections of new life for the Blues 2012 season and his expertise and professionalism are heralded as sure to be of great benefit to the senior playing list.
A Kilmore resident, Nolan has tasted premiership success with Yea and also enjoyed previous coaching roles with Broadford and the RDFL Under 18 representative side in 2011.
Outgoing senior coach, Rob Peckham will be retained by the club as playing assistant coach, ensuring a smooth transition for the Blues.
The appointment of a 17 person committee, heralds a new pathway for the club, with Wally Marrett the new president, Jon Sutherland and Natasha Fyfe, co-vice-presidents, Adam Dove, secretary and John Atkinson, treasurer forming the executive committee and preparing the club for next season.
Marrett thanked the outgoing committee for its efforts under trying circumstances in 2011 and described the new committee as eager for the challenge ahead.
“It is vitally important that we ensure that our structure and processes off field are of the highest standard and that we commit as a club to achieving success through organisation, structure and achievement.”
“We are committed to valuing our sponsors, players, supporters and all associated with the club,” Marrett said.
“We are also eager to foster a culture that recognizes the importance of the netball competition in the club’s future direction.”
New life member
A highlight of the AGM was the nomination and induction of club stalwart, Vaughan Clancy, to the status of life member.
The Blues are eager to revive an Under 18s side at the club and also re-establish links with past players.
“This is an important link for young footballers to progress through the competition to eventually become the senior footballers of the future,” Marrett said.
“These ex-players can impart experience, knowledge and history to benefit the club.”
A “meet the coach/registration day” will be announced shortly via the club website and the coaches selection committee is already in the process of appointing reserves, U18 and netball coaches for the coming season.
Start dates for football and netball pre-season training will be announced on the club’s facebook page and website shortly.
“It is vitally important that all those who would like to get involved with the club get on board early to ensure the future success of the club,” Marret said.
