THESE school holidays parents don’t have to go far to find some excitement and entertainment for the children. The newly opened Jungle Kids Indoor Play Centre in Wallan offers one-of-a-kind entertainment for kids up to 12 years old.
The first of its kind in the Mitchell Shire, there is a baby’s area, great for mothers’ group meetings, a toddler area for children under three years and a large play ground for children aged four to 12 years.
There is also a Ball Battlezone, a café and a dining area.
The Ball Battlezone is something that very few play centres have and can be found only be found at places like theme parks in Queensland. It features two automatic machines that shoot out the balls as well as six guns for a battle.
Colourful slides brighten up the large playground, with a triple slide, a double twist slide and a double barrel slide.
For owners Emily and Ben Gawley, Jungle Kids has been at least four months in the making but many more spent planning.
"We used to set up play centres for other people and this is our first play centre," Emily said.
"We have two children of our own, so we used a lot of our knowledge and expectations as parents and put it into practice in designing the play centre."
What makes this play centre so unique is the jungle theme that is carried throughout, with elephants, lions, tigers and cheetahs ruling this jungle and life size gorillas hanging from the ceiling.
"We have really tried to make it a visually and imaginatively appealing place for kids and adults," Emily said.
The café provides an area for parents to relax and keep an eye on their children while they play.
At the moment there is a range of items on the menu for kids and adults, but the menu will be changing after the school holidays. There is also an extensive range of coffee.
The café also does take away for people looking for a quick bite on the go, it is not just for people using the play centre. Tradespeople working in the area are encouraged to drop in for the smoko and lunch.
Jungle Kids also hosts kids’ parties on weekends and weekdays. Kids can choose from the Fairy Room, the Space Room or the glow-in-the-dark Jungle Room.
Each party includes your own party host to play games and entertain your guests, as well as invitations, face painting, food and drinks, themed 
tableware, balloons, lolly bags, ice cream cake and a tea or coffee for the birthday child’s parents.
Parties cost $200 for up to ten children, $15 for each additional child, and parties last for one and a half hours. Guests are entitled to unlimited free play after the party.
The Centre is also available for private function hire between 6pm and 9pm.
There will also be special events at Jungle Kids throughout the school holidays including free face painting, story book reading and jungle music sessions. They will also host a junior disco. These events will be announced on the website so keep checking for updates at www.junglekids.com.au.
Single admission, play all day at the Centre costs $8.50 for four to 12 year olds, $6.50 for 12 months to three years and parents and babies are free. Cash, EFTPOS, debit, Visa and Mastercard are all accepted.
