He was responding to speculation raised through a front page story in The Age on Tuesday, where Planning Minister Justin Madden was reported as stating the government has a range of options to consider, and it may even be that it is not in a hurry to move the urban growth boundary.
The GAIC has been a very contentious issue for some months, with the southern part of Mitchell Shire (particularly Beveridge) caught up in the Urban Growth Boundary proposed changes.
Cr Melbourne said council is still committed to resolving Beveridge township -- ensuring that the current community, which will include a minimum of 2000 new homes as part of the multi-million dollar Mandalay residential development, is appropriately supported with services and infrastructure.
